>Raditz was the first big villain in Dbz, he posed quite a threat to the Z fighters back then. Raditz kidnapped Goku's son, Gohan which is the first time we see Gohan. To defeat Raditz Goku had to team up with his arch rival Piccolo, which was a desperate move because bobody trusted him too much. The combined efforts of Goku and Piccolo finished Raditz off. Goku grabbed Raditz' tail which was a weak spot while Piccolo did the Special Beam Cannon on both of them. Raditz was the first to inform Goku that he was Saiya-jin and thats why he had a tail, and that Goku's job was to destroy earth.

<Nappa>

>Nappa is also a Saiya-jin. He arrived a year after Raditz was killed when he and Vegeta heard about the Dragonballs on earth. Nappa proved to be a formidable enemy in the battle to save earth. After he and the Saibamen were finished all that was left of the Z fighters were Krillin and Gohan. Just when they were on the verge of being destroyed Vegeta decided to wait for Goku. Goku arrived and with his new found skills and training made Nappa no match for him.

>Vegeta was the smaller of him and Nappa, but remember size doesn't matter. He of course being the price of the Saiya-jins (now king) the fighting race, and also is an elite Saiya-jin which made him quite the enemy. He found Goku to be quite the match. Goku used his new technique called Kaiou-Ken which increases their power and speed, this can be done in multiples. King Kaiou warned Goku to only go to x2 or else his body would explode, but Goku when x4 while in a beam war. This left him exhausted and in pain. Vegeta being beaten in the beam war made him to decide to change into his Oozaru form. While in Oozaru form Goku did a Solar Flare which bought him some time to create a Genki Dama (spirit bomb). This was not so successful because Vegeta interrupted Goku just as he was about to form the energy ball of it. Yajarobi then made a desperation move and cut off Vegeta's tail. After this Goku had transferred the remaining power of the energy he built up for the spirit bomb. Krillin then, with the help of King Kaiou, Threw the spirit bomb at Vegeta which missed then rebounded by Gohan back at Vegeta. This wasn't enough to kill Vegeta, and what happened next was that Gohan mysteriously regrew his tail and turned Oozaru. While in Oozaru Vegeta cut off Gohan's tail but, Gohan landed on Vegeta while still transorming back to his normal Saiya-jin stage. Vegeta was well beaten and had to get out of there and follow his plan to go to Namek, where the original Dragonballs are. Both the Z fighters and Vegeta followed this plan, the Z fighters were going to wish their friends back, Vegeta was still goin for immortality. During the stay on Namek Vegeta found himself opposing his employer Frieza, and that he had joined the Z fighters "temporarily".

>Frieza at the time was the most powerful being in the Universe. King Kaiou warns Goku about Frieza and tells him to stay away from him. During the fight against Frieza, Vegeta finds himself unsuccessful and hovering on deaths door. Goku also witnesses Krillin being killed by Frieza. Frieza's main objective for the Dragonballs was the same as Vegeta's, immortality, this is never acheived. Frieza has three different stages but, only one matters his final stage, the most powerful. When he is on Namek near the end of the stay he sent a big ball of energy, which burrows to the center of planets and blows them up. This gives the Z fighters a little time limit, no worries because they get wished back to earth. Goku after witnessing Krillin's death, experiences extreme rage, because to his knowledge Krillin can't be wished back. So this extreme rage and the experience of withstanding 100x gravity, makes him go Super Saiya-jin, and which also makes Frieza no match for him and Goku "the most powerful being in the universe".

>Ok I can't really explain this one because I missed the whole saga. The most i can say is that Garlic Jr. is an old enemy of Goku and his father is an old enemy of Kame. He comes back from the Dead Zone which is in the movie (which wasn't supposed to take place in the series). Anyway he has his henchman The Spice Boys (cheesy I know) who weren't too hard for Piccolo. Garlic Jr. also unleashed some gas which made all the Z gangs friends evil. I don't know how Garlic Jr. died but he did.
